The second session came to an end with the celebrations of the X-MAS Showing.
For this special occasion a number of pieces has been chosen from the school works.
The locating year presented a theater dance piece worked by Kathleen Quinlan-Zetterberg (USA/Schweden) and Jelka Milic (Slowenien) .
The BODHI PROJECT presented a 10 min extract from a piece by Oleg Soulimenko made for the company touring repertoire.
The going on year preformed a dance piece they created together as a gesture for Merc Cunningham and the ICE student Shiran Eliaserov presented a duet that was a collaboration with the musicians from Mozarteum University.
The audience was invited to watch the videos that been created by the Grounding year in the frame of a video dance workshop with Jelka Milic.

The next session will close the winter semester in Sead... but there is still much more to explore!

The third session is dedicated to a festival called NEW FACES NEW DANCES organized by SEAD in cooperation with Szene Salzburg and created for THE ICE Choreographers to expose their work together with inviting new pieces from Sead graduates.
Four choreography's, all shown the first time, present current developments in contemporary dance. The festival is an important impulse for the international dance scene and a stage for young artists.
The pieces for the first evening has been created for the Defining year and will be presented in Republic theater in Salzburg on the 20th and 21st of January at 20:00.

Every year Summer zsene dance festival is collaborating with one choreographer to create a piece for Sead students to perform in their summer programme .

This year the selected choreographer is Diego Gil:

Diego studied philosophy in Buenos Aires before studying dance and choreography at the SNDO in Amsterdam. He has worked with Andrea Bozic, Hooman Sharifi and David Weber-Krebs and develops his own works, which were shown e.g. at Rencontres Choregraphiques de Seine-Saint Denis and at Tanz im August in Berlin

Diego has planned this year a bigger project combinding the Going on + Defining year.
Diego has been rehearsing with the going on dancers for 4 intensive weeks , sharing he's tools for movement research and collecting movement into a new creation.
In the past year he was working with the BODHI PROJECT ("how music sounds") using his same method for creation.

The piece will be preformed in July in the frame of the festival .

The Cooperative Dance Education Centre in Berlin is again accepting students
In the 2010 academic year the Cooperative Dance Education Centre at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the School of Dramatic Arts “Ernst Busch“ (HfS) will be again accepting students.
Beginning on October 15th 2009, information on the BA course of study “Contemporary Dance, Context, Choreography”, the MA “Solo / Dance / Authorship (SODA)” and the MA “Choreography” will be available at the UdK Berlin and HfS websites.

The Cooperative Dance Education Centre – Pilot Project Tanzplan Berlin (HZT) developed a remarkable education in a cooperation between the UdK Berlin, the HfS and TanzRaumBerlin, the Berlin dance scene’s network. The HZT offers three practice-oriented and innovative courses of study for contemporary dance and choreography.

The two week workshop focuses on the Improvisational Technologies that William Forsythe,
the Ballet Frankfurt and The Forsythe Company developed and used to create their works.
This course gives you a chance to learn and work with these methods to distill your
knowledge into a higher quality of dance and to become a more articulate and graceful
performer.
These two weeks offer a period of study, practice and research with the possibility of a
creation including those participants that excel.
At the beginning we'll explore simple ideas that result in complex movements and better
your sense of coordination. We will learn Improvisational Modalities; tools such as folding,
bridging, extrusions, brushing, point-point-line, isometries, shearing and many more.
Through examining the components of movement (dynamics, momentum, direction,
inclination, velocity, rhythm, etc. ) we will learn to use their influences and how to construct
them in any number of choreographic combinations.
The workshop will bring you to an awareness in which your body does the thinking,
allowing you to move very fast, yet without violence and still remain articulate and generous
with your movements.
The main benefit of this type of improvisation is to reach a fluid state of creativity, where you
can make split-second decisions while in movement, teaching you to retain their qualities
and to use them in your dancing or choreographic practice.
This workshop offers a great setting where ideas can flow in a charged environment,
creating work that is fresh, inspired and inspiring.

Different bodies leave different traces in space and grace has little to do with weight or
shape.
In my opinion grace comes from the connectedness of the body and mind and their ability to
bring movement into form and flow creating not only shapes in space but composition and
harmony at a particular speed and for a particular time.
To create a clear, crystallized version of any artistic vision you'll need to start with the
creation of a certain language. To build up that language is easier with the use of this kind of
improvisation.

The two week workshop is 360 Euros per person.
The course has a maximum of 20 places.

Days will start at 10.30 with a warm up class, followed by four working hours including
short breaks as necessary and a separate lunch break.
Saturdays we'll finish at 14.00 h. and Sunday is our day off.
The Theatre offers catering where you can arrange to have well prepered food during the
day at a very reasonable price.
Accomodation is to be arranged by participants themselves, however you can ask for
information on finding suitable lodgings in Antwerpen
